About the Artist
Amy de Waal is a young artist currently studying Biology at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Her fascination with art and horses started at a young age. As a child, she could often be found making drawings or other little art works at school instead of doing her maths exercises. Or helping out at the local stable in the weekends, where she could pet and brush the horses. But alas, it was impossible for her to own a pony or horse herself. That didn't mean though, she couldn't enjoy their minature plastic counterparts; model horses.
Model horses have been a part of Amy's life for a long time - she started collecting them at the age of 10, and her collection hasn't stopped growing since. Much like other collectors, Amy started getting creative with her collection by customizing models, making tack for them, and showing them. It took her a while to realise that neither painting nor tack making was really her talent... Instead, it appeared that she was a pretty decent sculptor! And so, she started on her first few sculptures. After a few "learning curves" (read: terrible original sculptures), the day came when Amy finally got the hang of sculpting from scratch, and her first resin model, Yasirah, was released.
Now, Amy is working on several sculpts at the same time, and the next model released is a mystery...
