About the Sculptures
Amy's sculptures start out as a bunch of wires and aluminium foil. Then they are covered with layers of Aves' Apoxie Sculpt, a self-hardening modelling compound that is more durable than any type of clay. After several months of staring down the model, adding bits of material in some places, and carving away some in others, the sculpture finally looks like a horse instead of a lump of clay. It is then time for the daunting process of casting the model!
All Amy's sculptures are professionally cast by companies such as Seunta LLC. Each mold is made with the greatest caution and attention to detail, so that all the features of the original sculpture are present on the resin copies. All models are hollow-cast in polyutherane, with stainless steel reinforcements in their legs and tail to ensure a stable and durable model.
Now that you know how they are made, please enjoy looking at the finished sculptures in the Sculpture Gallery. Or take a look at the In Progress page, where you will find updates on models Amy is currently working on.
